Initially, SUVs were primarily focused on their off-roading capabilities, but as time went on, they gained popularity due to their ability to combine the spaciousness and efficiency of a minivan with the functionality of a station wagon. Today, you can find a wide range of SUVs that differ in size, performance, and much more. The smallest of the group are the subcompact SUVs, which is where the Honda HR-V fits in. Despite its smaller size, however, it has a lot to offer today's drivers.
Not only do we have the Honda HR-V for sale, but we're also well-versed in its top features. Our knowledgeable and friendly team can walk you through those features as well as answer any questions you might have to help you determine which of the three trims is best for your driving needs. If you're looking for a smaller SUV that delivers in a big way, we encourage you to check out our inventory online or stop by to talk with a member of our team. For now, keep reading to learn more about the HR-V and why we think it's a strong contender.
A Closer Look at the Honda HR-V
The Honda HR-V has actually been around since the 1990s, but that version was never available in the United States. Instead, we had to wait until 2016 to get our hands on it, and even that version is quite different from what is on our lot today. The 2025 HR-V is part of the third generation, which was last redesigned in 2023.
As mentioned, it offers a choice of three trims: the LX, Sport, and EX-L. All three trims are equipped with a 2.0L four-cylinder that delivers 158 hp. That engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), which offers better fuel efficiency, a smooth driving experience, and reduced maintenance costs due to its simpler design. The following is a closer look at each of the three trims and the features that make them stand out.

The LX Trim
Beyond having a starting MSRP that fits many budgets, especially if you're choosing the HR-V for the youngest driver in the family or as a solid commuter vehicle, the base LX trim gives you many amenities. For instance, you will enjoy a seamless connection with your phone thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This means that you can access your favorite podcast, contacts, turn-by-turn directions, and more. You will also enjoy the seven-inch color touchscreen, front and center console USB ports, and a push-button start.
Another perk when choosing the Honda brand is its focus on safety. Regardless of who is behind the wheel or sitting in the passenger seats, there is increased confidence and peace of mind when you have a solid collection of safety features on your side. For the LX trim, Honda's safety suite—Honda Sensing—provides you with features such as a Collision Mitigation Braking System, which helps you to avoid obstacles in the roadway. Other features include a Road Departure Mitigation System, a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and a Lane-Keeping Assist System.
Something you might not expect from an SUV in the subcompact segment is the availability of Real-Time AWD. What this means is that you gain enhanced traction control and stability, which is key if you find yourself on various terrains or in challenging weather conditions. The Real-Time AWD system can provide you with more confidence, and it is available in all three trims.
The Sport Trim
You can get a sporty feeling by choosing the Sport trim. Top features for this trim include the ability to remotely start the engine, as well as Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock. While that feature might not seem like that big of a deal, being able to lock and unlock your vehicle without having to fumble for your keys is a great time saver and minimizes frustrations when your hands are full. The Sport trim also provides you with heated front seats and a six-speaker audio system.
This middle trim offers specific exterior features not found on the other two options, such as a chrome exhaust finisher, sport grille, rear privacy glass, and 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels. Additionally, it and the LX trim have a roofline spoiler and body-colored power side mirrors. For the Sport trim, however, you will enjoy heated functionality for those side mirrors.
The same safety features mentioned above are also found in the Sport trim, in addition to blind-spot and cross-traffic monitors and automatic high beams. It's also worth noting that the 2025 Honda HR-V has earned the Top Safety Pick+ distinction from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).[a] Even better? That same distinction has been awarded since the redesign in 2023, which gives you added confidence if you're looking at a used HR-V rather than a new one.
Finally, the Sport trim of the HR-V has the same seven-inch touchscreen found in the LX trim and can connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, as mentioned, it has an improved audio system, which is key if you find yourself turning up the tunes as you drive down the road on your way to your next adventure.

The EX-L Trim
The top trim for the 2025 HR-V has many of the features offered in the other two trims, such as the availability of Real-Time AWD, two center console USB ports, push-button start, and a long list of safety features. Still, there are enhanced features that set it apart to consider. For instance, when looking at safety features, you will find that the EX-L is equipped with Low-Speed Braking Control and parking sensors in the rear and front.
The EX-L also has exterior features that you might enjoy, such as a standard moonroof and heated side mirrors with integrated turn indicators. These features are in addition to the ones it shares with the Sport trim: rear privacy glass and Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock. Additionally, the EX-L trim is equipped with 17-inch machine-finished alloys with gloss shark gray inserts.
Regarding comfort, convenience, and connectivity, one of the key benefits you gain from choosing the EX-L trim over the other two are wireless charging and wireless connectivity to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This allows you to enjoy a cord-free space up front. Additional perks are the increased size of the touchscreen—moving from the seven-inch display to a nine-inch display—and an audio system with eight speakers, rather than the six that are offered in the Sport trim.
There are also heated, leather-trimmed front seats, which are perfect for taking the chill out of early morning drives. Finally, the EX-L trim is the only one that offers SiriusXM and HD Radio, as well as ambient LED lighting, an automatic-dimming rearview mirror, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system.
