At Southgate Honda, many are excited about the Honda Prologue, a fully electric vehicle that has made its way to dealerships like ours. Those who are looking to purchase one can find that there are at-home charging options available to you, and we're happy to go over those with you and help you make the right selection.
Honda offers two packages. Both provide a Level 2 charger, which is needed for the most efficient charging for EVs. The first Honda Home Charging Station provides a hardwired 25-foot 11.5-kW charger with 240 volts and needs to be installed by an electrician. This is estimated to get the quickest charge time to 100 percent among your choices and charge the most miles per hour.
Your second option is a Honda Portable Charging Kit with two chargers. The first is a NEM 14-50 Appliance Outlet charger that's a Level 2 option and uses 7.6-kW of power with 240 volts. It has slightly longer charge times, but it's portable, can go with you where you need it, and can be plugged into the right outlet. It also provides you with a NEMA 5-15 Standard Outlet charger that has 1.4-kW of power and can be used in a 120-volt outlet. It would provide the least amount of miles charged per hour, as it would take several days for an empty battery Honda Prologue to charge using this one. But, if you know you're not going to be driving for several days, it will work out fine in a pitch, as it too is portable.
All options come with a product warranty, and you can get a $500 installation credit with a Honda Certified Installer.
